Big changes are being made at Cochise Regional Hospital, and according to certified staff, patients no longer have to travel out of town for quality healthcare. During their open meet and greet with doctors and local residents, held on April 1, Cochise Regional Chief Medical Officer, Luciano Fochesatto, MD, Vice President of Finance, Christopher Alise, and President Seth Guterman, MD, debuted their use of Telemedicine. The Telemedicine system allows board certified specialists to conduct inpatient care in Douglas, from several states away, through telecommunications. According to Guterman, this form of practice has been done at no other hospital in the nation. It is a program that is unique to Douglas.
