EBOLA Preparedness Meeting Hosted by Cochise Regional Hospital

On 10/23/14, Cochise Regional Hospital hosted an Ebola Preparedness Meeting with representatives from the Douglas Fire Department, Douglas Police Department, US Border Patrol, and CBP-POE in attendance. The group reviewed the latest EBOLA information and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines plus an on-site demonstration for proper use of PPE. The goal of the meeting is to establish cohesive, collaborative effort moving forward and included additional outreach to the Mexican Consulate, Arizona LifeLine, Arizona Ambulance, and multiple healthcare providers throughout Cochise County.

Cochise Regional Hospital’s Director of Operations, Roberta Berry, noted “We never know where the next infectious disease threat may appear, and we, as a community of health professionals, must ensure that we are thoroughly educated, and provide appropriate training and education in order to protect our staff, the patients we serve, and the community at large.”

The unified response by Douglas, AZ and Cochise County reflects a proactive approach to the current crisis, and related issues that arise from it.
